Surry Migratory Education Program

Note:  The term "migrant" within this website is used in the same manner as "migratory," referencing families and children who move due to agricultural harvest and work.

This site is dedicated to the Migratory Education Program serving Surry County, North Carolina.  Additional groups of students benefit from the Surry MEP, which is facilitated by Surry County Schools.  MEP eligible students from Elkin City Schools, Mt. Airy City Schools, and Millennium Charter Academy are screened for migratory families.

The goal of the Migratory Education Program is to ensure that all migratory students reach challenging academic standards and graduate with a high school diploma (or complete a GED) that prepares them for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment. 
El objetivo del Programa de Educación Migratoria es garantizar que todos los estudiantes migratorios alcancen estándares académicos desafiantes y se gradúen con un diploma de escuela secundaria (o completen un GED) que los prepare para una ciudadanía responsable, un mayor aprendizaje y un empleo productivo.

MIGRANT EDUCATION HOTLINE  The Migrant Education Hotline: 1. 800. 234. 8848  Migrant farm workers and their families have a phone number to call for referrals to education and other services. Call the hotline when you move to get help enrolling your children in school or summer school.
